In contemporary dance, Alain Buffard today occupies a predominant position, with a common thread: staging that is carnal, sexual and political, placing the body beyond conventional representations. His latest creation, Baron Samedi, follows in this same vivacious, expressionist direction. Reversal of values is also characteristic of the Songs of Kurt Weill, from which this work freely draws.
