A work for Tibetan bowls; another for automobile shock absorbers; or for marimba and wood blocks: for each of his pieces, Pierluigi Billone (born 1960) seems to reinvent music according to the sounds each instrument offers and the gestures that it suggests to him. To each object, its proper presence, its own music: for
percussion, here it is no longer the art of striking but the art of tact. Tom De Cock, one of the composer’s preferred interpreters, makes of each of his concerts a unique event, where matter turns to pure spirit.
