For its first production of a work by Rossini, the Lille Opera is presenting L’Italiana in Algeri, an opera buffa written by a particularly inspired 21-year-old prodigy. The creation of this incredible ?organised folly’ - as Stendhal put it - has been entrusted to an artistic team with which the Lille Opera has had a long and faithful history. With Sandrine Anglade in charge of the staging and the Picardie Orchestra under the baton of Pascal Verrot, this Italiana in Algeri is expected to be particularly enjoyable.
