Richard Jones provides a picturesque vision of Scottish malice and Italian furore in Verdi’s Macbeth. The Italian conductor Roberto Rizzi Brignoli, master of Verdian dramatic tension, directs the Lille National Orchestra, with a cast who fully embrace the characters inspired by Shakespeare’s tragedy.
Opera by Giuseppe Verdi ( 1813-1901 ). Libretto by Francesco Maria Piave and Andrea Maffei, after shakespeare.
