The science-fiction novel Solaris tells the tale of a scientist on a mission to the planet Solaris, where he discovers a vast ocean of matter that mysteriously alters human perception. The composer Dai Fujikura and the choreographer Saburo Teshigawara reproduce the haunting atmosphere of the book to create an opera in which there reigns an obsessive strangeness, mixed with 3D images and electro-acoustic music performed by the Ensemble intercontemporain in collaboration with Ircam.
Opera by Dai Fujikura (born in 1977) after Solaris by Stanislas Lem (1961). Libretto by Saburo Teshigawara (Éditions Ricordi). Creation at Théâtre des Champs-Élysées the 5th march 2015. Éditions Ricordi
